The week that was....turbulent, successful and full of triumphant moments....
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a personal trainer are those light bulb moments clients get when the penny drops in terms of nutrition, lifestyle management and of course the inevitable results and changes visible in their bodies.
This week has been full of so many little sparky moments for many of the PRP crew, I have been overwhelmed with pride and honoured to be part of each of their triumphant moments...This final outcome of success, however, does not diminish the hard graft they have all put in to get their 'just desserts'.Each one has had to overcome an obstacle that has held them back from success in the past. All discovered some interesting facts about how they relate emotionally and physically to their food, the choices they have made in the past and how tightly they were hanging on to antiquated belief systems about themselves, their lifestyles and their relationships.
So this week was a week of 'redefining beliefs'. Hard yards done in the gym and in the kitchen paid dividends with average weight loss of 2.5kg, increased strength and improved endurance...so to all my girls and guys I say CONGRATULATIONS! A well deserved and earned massage for you all is prescribed.
As for myself, Operation RockitUSA is ticking along consistently, calmly and hungrily with a splash of DOMS everywhere.
Cardio increased a whisker this week, as did the functional sessions to which my body has responded with a very loud 'you gotta be kidding me...what the?'....the trainer in me has been using the term SHUT UP & MOVE IT quite a lot this week.
Master Coach Perry has made some alterations to the calories and macro-nutrient ratios of my daily meals, meaning that my poor clients have been putting up with the odd jumbled sentence and visual cueing of exercises, thank goodness they understand 'SaraSpeak'.
At this stage of the comp prep game, what many competitors don't realise and certainly find out pretty quick is how the power of the mind really is the driving force behind anything we achieve in life. The gym is the perfect stage for this to play out. Of the clients that I train, the people who continue to achieve success in their pursuit of their goals are the ones who come to grips with the ability to think themselves through training sessions. They have mastered the ability to train the power of their thoughts, drivers and mental strength resulting in physical improvements that leave others behind in the dust. None of them ever use excuses, they just DO WHAT THEY NEED TO. Like any skill, practice makes perfect. In my belief and approach to training physical weakness is not a true reality until your mind tells you so, tiredness does not exist until your mind tells you so.
How long can one maintain focus until the mind gives takes over and tells you GIVE UP/GIVE IN/STOP NOW?....Champions push through boundaries where others would simple stop and give up.....
