Over the centuries, tattoos have gone in and out of popularity but among their most ardent fans they never completely lost favor. Rebels, royals, rock stars and movie stars; anyone with a statement to make could sport an inky slogan or slang expression, tucking it shyly beneath a discreet bikini line or placing it out there in full view, for all to see.
Recently, tattooing experienced an explosive revival in popularity, with Angelina Jolie, Rhianna, Victoria and David Beckham all sporting tattoos, and that just names a few. Tattoos have become so mainstream that in 2009 even Mattel Toy's got into the act, introducing their newest version of the 'Barbie Doll', complete with stick-on tattoos and a tattoo gun.
Playboy Playmate Miss January 2002, Nicole Narain, is one of the models in our pictures. She loves the idea of "fusing together tattoos and endorsing the green movement." She started getting tattoos at age 16 and now they completely cover her back. She calls them a "work in progress." Nicole is half Chinese and so many of her tattoos are in Mandarian. These are just a few that decorate her back: a hibiscus flower, a saying, "The World is Mine", symbols for loyalty and emotional strength.
If you'd like to get a tattoo but you are not comfortable injecting toxic in your body, try henna tattoos, they are natual and safe anough for kids. If you already have tatttos and your wish is to removed them you can do so while staying eco conscious. According to Off Beat Ink, " Tattoo removal surgeons can promote more eco-friendly policies by switching from tetrafluorethane (the chemical sprayed on your skin to prevent scarring during removal) to a carbon dioxide spray. This spray accomplishes the job just as efficiently, and simultaneously reduces the environmental impact. "
